Hi, I'm Mik Clarity! The founder and creator of Holistics Personal Training. I am your Registered Personal Trainer, Mental Health Coach and Spiritual Worker! I specialize in helping Professional and spiritual women achieve a holistic transformation, although I am open to assist anyone who comes to me.
Professionally, I am a Registered Personal Trainer (R.P.T), Mental Health Coach (previously I went by Certified Addictions Counsellor), Spiritual Worker and entrepreneur. My job is to enlighten you on your path to a healthier lifestyle. My mission is to help you build your body, mind, and spirit. Together, let's become stronger than yesterday!
Personally, I am a crafty, family-oriented mother who loves enhancing my knowledge. I am constantly investing in my own self, which gives me the tools to improve anything that is an extension of myself. I sign up for trainings that align with my spirit and follow through with these decisions. There is always at least one self help book open on my bedside table and I adore outdoor adventures. Former provincial gold champion gymnast and current yoga enthusiast. I am always working in bettering myself, ride the wave of change and embrace every part of life.
I know the tools that I teach work for me, I am sure it will help you!
I am an active member of Manitoba Fitness Council (MFC), holding the titles of Registered Personal Trainer and Resistance Training Certified Fitness Leader.
In the exercise theory course, I developed skills in leadership, health and fitness, anatomy, physiology, applied movement mechanics, principles of training, exercise analysis and risk management, body composition, program planning, workout design and basic nutrition.
During the resistance training course, I studied how to instruct beginner to intermediate resistance training programs for group settings (such as weight room supervision or resistance training classes).
With the title of a Registered Personal Trainer I am qualified in all categories required to work effectively in an individual setting (1:1). I provide motivation and education to an individual by administering a safe program of basic exercise in order to promote physical activity.
In my younger years I had trained heavily at gymnastics, I improved my skills tremendously and began competing. I won gold and silver medals many times, along with many ribbons. An athletic moment I am most proud of is when I was announced provincial champion at the regional stream provincial competition. Winning that gold medal during a provincial competition showed my younger self what I was made of. The determination, commitment and hard work I learned at such a young age has followed me, improving with age. I can still backhand spring and do most of the physical skills as well.
My job title before launching my own business was Addictions Counsellor. Some of my duties included one on one counselling to members of the community and women involved in the justice system. These one-on-one sessions included Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), self-care practices, turning negative expectations into positives, de-escalating crisis, boosting self-confidence, “killing boredom”, time management, stress management and much more.
I was teaching three group programs: Women for Change (anger management), Preventions (crime prevention) and Peer Support. A coworker and I developed and facilitated Peer Support weekly meetings to uplift women in the community and bring them together in creative ways. I was also in charge of client file management. Before I was laid off (due to the Covid-19 pandemic), I was in the process of developing a maintenance program, requested from a Women’s Correctional Centre, to transition women from prison back into the community in a healthy way. I brought in new clients by advertisement. I created an email list and traveled the community sharing posters advertising for groups/ services we offered. This alone brought in traffic of interest, who became new clients. The word on the street was there was an amazing addictions counsellor they requested to see. During my time there, I mentored practicum students, showing them the duties of an addiction’s counsellor.
Previously, I would refer to myself as C.A.C. (Certified Addictions Counsellor). My previous job I was an Addictions Counsellor, where I specialized in drug and alcohol assistance. I have stepped out of that specialty. I have broadened my inner work help, to general uplifting of mental health.
Please note, I am not a doctor, I am not a mental health specialist, I do not have any certification when it comes to diagnosing or assisting in mental health conditions. I do however have a general understanding of day to day life when it comes to basic psychology and personal experience in order to help individuals increase their own self love, on their self discovery path.
There are many addictive behaviors when it comes to human nature, not just drugs and alcohol. Everything I have learned and experienced, I use to help clients become stronger than yesterday versions of themselves.
To dive deeper into my background, the college education I graduated from was "Addictions and Community Services Worker" from CDI College. During my time there, the relatable courses included:
Fundamentals of Addiction, Introduction to Intake Procedures and Treatment Planning, Relapse Prevention and Intervention, Ethics, Interviewing Techniques, Group Facilitation Concepts, Psychology, Working with Families, Communications Fundamentals, Case File Management, Report Writing, Preventative Health Promotion and more.
The issue with keeping my second title as C.A.C. was that individuals were confused as to what Holistics Personal Training is about. Am I a counsellor? Do I do 1:1 drug counselling or rehab? The answer in short, is no. I have adapted the education skills and experience into a more universal program to help level you up in the way you are needing the help.
If you are struggling and are in active addiction, I can refer you to a variety of other wonderful Addictions Counsellor's or treatment centers. I have a network and great people, I trust you to be safe with. As a mental health coach.. I can help you with every day issues, assist you in making better choices, transform your self image, release your self limiting beliefs, turn bad habits into healthy ones, provide you with tools to fall in love with with yourself and much more.
I took part of Women’s Enterprise Centre of Manitoba (WECM)’s Welcome to Business and Business Plan Development workshops. These workshops included information regarding: Research and Exploration, Analysis and Evaluation, Marketing, Pricing, Distribution and Sales, Promotions and Marketing Plan, Operations Planning, Risk Analysis and Sales Forecasting, as well as Financial Foundations.
I have previously worked with a transformational life coach to work on myself as well as a hypnotherapist to help me work through my blockages.
I am working through online programming that includes spiritual teachings on both money and relationships.
I am currently enrolled in a 90 day energy mentorship program as well to help me work on the parts of my life I can heal. Turn my weaknesses into strengths through energy healing, using traditional Chinese medicine and numerology.
In the next six months of my life, I anticipate getting my yoga certification as well as more business courses.
Other relatable certifications include:
• Intermediate First Aid, CPR-C & AED training through St. Johns Ambulance Saint-Jean
• Harassment and Violence Prevention through Safe Work Manitoba
• Families First, a three-year program through Winnipeg Regional Health Authority
